Spotlight on University of St. Francis, Fort Wayne, IN
DakStats Basketball, Message Center Interface, Scoreboard Interface, & Web-Sync combine into one fully-integrated stat display system
Fort Wayne, IN, is home to the University of Saint Francis (USF), a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) that utilizes DakStats Basketball software and its interfacing capabilities to the fullest.
USF uses DakStats Basketball software to live track live player and team stats.
It all starts with the DakStats computer; the team’s manager uses the Play-by-Play mode to enter each play as it happens and to track shot locations on the shot chart. The software interfaces with the Daktronics All Sport 5010 scoreboard controller which provides the software an accurate time stamp on each play. In addition, the side stat display panels of the scoreboard receive player, foul, and point information which automatically updates through DakStats.
USF also interfaces the software to a Daktronics LED messge center above a Daktronics numeric scoreboard. The message center shows coaches, players, and fans additional real-time information, such as field goal percentages and rebounding statistics, that do not fit on the stat displays.
If fans can’t make it to the game, they can still catch all the action with the DakStats Webcast feature. As the DakStats operator enters plays into the software, the information is sent to the University of Saint Francis Web-Sync page where fans can view up-to-the-minute stats from anywhere in the world.
DakStats Basketball software controls the stat panels and provides statistical data to the LED message center atop the scoreboard.
As part of the NAIA, the University of Saint Francis also uses the Web-Sync service to send statistics to the NAIA Web-Sync site to satisfy both Conference and National reporting requirements. “We simply hit a few keys on the computer and our stats are uploaded instantly,” commented Jeff Rekeweg, head men’s basketball coach.
In regard to the DakStats package as a whole, Rekeweg states that, “simplicity and accuracy are the two main benefits of the software, but it also has a ‘wow’ factor with our fans.”
